About the Role
Glastonbury Health Centre is looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our growing team. You will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and comfort of patients while carrying out a range of diagnostics to support the healthcare team in delivering high-quality care. You will display compassion, empathy, have excellent communication skills and will be able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. There are many training and progression opportunities available and Glastonbury Health Centre for candidates looking to progress their knowledge and skills in a clinical setting.
Main Duties include
To assist medical personnel in the care of practice patients, to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.
Offer a range of care to patients including, but limited to phlebotomy, BP monitoring, height and weight monitoring, ECGs, urinalysis, undertaking new patient checks in general practice and assisting patients to undertake activities linked to rehabilitation programmes
Understanding normal parameters and when to refer to GPs/Nursing team for further management
Work under indirect or direct supervision in a structured context
Ensure specimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed
Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team
Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patient’s notes
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Glastonbury Health Centre is a practice with approximately 6000 patients, we currently have two partners, one salaried GP and 2 advanced nurse practitioners.

To date we have created a bank of vaccination staff for the Covid-19 programme and delivered 1000’s of vaccines to housebound patients and within vaccination centres. We have been awarded the GP flexible pool contract from the Somerset ICB, to recruit GPs to work with and support GP practices.
